Spiced Ketchup

Making ketchup from scratch allows you to control the flavor, avoid preservatives and ingredients like corn syrup, and extend tomato season. The process is surprisingly simple and the results superb.

Urban Farming and Local Food Forum
October 16, 2008, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Damascus Christian School, Damascus, OR

How will we integrate growing food with urban development?

This forum will consider ways for communities to integrate agriculture with urban development. As we move into the 21st century a new way of looking at “agriculture and the city” is forming that challenges traditional land use patterns. Transportation costs and energy demands; food security and quality; education and tourism; and many other factors encourage local food production and reconsideration of agriculture as a part of urban life.

The program will include a panel presentation of government, agricultural and food leaders followed by a series of group discussions on specific topics.

Sponsored by the Urban Land Institute and the City of Damascus.
