Summer Edition 2024
Hey, Portland, I am getting a serious crush on you.
Your vibe, food, friendliness and vibrancy combine to make you irresistible. As I have settled in over the past three months, I became aware of the go-to, must-have accessory in Portland – a dog poop bag holder! Our girl, Penny, so enjoys the dog parks in the different neighborhoods around the city. Walking with her, I happened upon several sizeable gardens, each one bursting with produce, fruit, or flowers. I am impressed with your commitment to eating healthy and local, sometimes uber-local, like from a community garden.
In addition, we are fortunate to have many excellent farmers markets where one can find bins of crunchy sugar snap peas, a treat when eaten raw, glorious asparagus standing thick and tall, and baskets of tender greens for salads that need no dressing. So get out there and get your share of nature’s bounty!
Don’t miss the Portland Farmers Market on the campus of PSU every Saturday, from 8:30 am–2 pm/9 am–2 pm November –February
